My art is my response to
God's beautiful world. After many years of close
observation, now is my time to put on canvas my feeling
about our planet and the beautiful people who inhabit it.
God's greatest creation, humankind, is currently what I am
working to record. The interesting faces are first recorded
in a pleasing likeness, then the essence of that person's
personality is presented in details. The resulting portrait
becomes a family treasure which will be passed to each
generation. I feel honored and humbled to be able to
participate in this creative collaboration with families.
Another aspect of the painting process I particularly enjoy
is Plein Aire painting. The Impressionists took their easels
outdoors in order to get just the exact color as Mother
Nature had "painted". This is a great opportunity to enjoy
the day and paint a favorite landscape. A house, a barn, or
a lake can be done at the client's request. Prices are based
upon the size of the canvas.
For me, the painting process is "sculpting with color
values". Light colors come forward, while dark ones recede.
The resulting mix, well done creates a pleasing portrait or
landscape
